AI and the future of science

New AI technologies, especially deep learning techniques, are being widely deployed in science. This project aims to understand the scope and ramifications of these new technologies. Some of the specific questions addressed are: to what extent are AI tools supplanting traditional scientific methodologies? Does this pose a problem for traditional conceptions of scientific methodology? To what extent do such techniques impact the scientific conclusions we can draw from such work? And what are the potential long-term effects on future science? These are some of the questions addressed by this project. This work is undertaken as part of the Philosophy of Contemporary and Future Science project at Lingnan University.
